Turns out Web 3.0 is fascism.
@aral It didn't have to be, but technolibertarians seem to be the only one willing to research and experiment with the underlying tech.
Imho the tech lends itself very well to government functions, managing common goods.....or to people who want to privatize those things and build monopolies around them. Unfortunately the latter group is the only one really pushing for anything or experimenting..... So here we are
@CompositeFellow @aral these muppets didn't invent merkle trees, and merkle trees aren't that useful. they do impress CS students though.
@quinn @CompositeFellow And nothing about a merkle tree requires universal proofs either. Anything useful you can do with blockchain you can do with a directed acyclic graph without all the “zero trust” bullshit (oh, yeah, mate, zero trust, just don’t 51% me m’kay?)
@CompositeFellow Only ones, eh? Man, good thing I didn’t know that or I wouldn’t be building a peer to peer web right now.
@aral apologies you are right. It was not my intention to state they were the only ones working on it. I misspoke. I appreciate your work and I'm excited to read about it.
I simply intended to point out it doesn't have to be and we don't have to secede the definition Of Web3 to cryptocurrency communities simply because they spent money on marketing and research. We can also not use Web3 as a term at all.
@CompositeFellow No worries :)
Oh, and yeah, there’s a reason I call what I do Small Web. And, there’s always web0 ;P https://web0.small-web.org
