Ok I mapped out the instruments I have / am planning to acquire in the near to mid term.

It looks like if I bodge 9 of the 12 inputs to make them hi-Z 3.3V max, leaving the remaining three as 50 ohm 5V tolerant, I should be able to salvage this without messing with the comparators themselves.
