“On a warm Melbourne day late last year, hundreds of thousands of live human #BrainCells sat inside a box on a table in #Brunswick.”

“lab-grown human neurons”
How?
“The neurons are made in the #lab in a process which turns #BloodCells back into stem cells — cells that can develop into many different types of #cells — which are then turned into #neurons. …[They're] grown from induced #StemCells that are generated from a small amount of #blood from volunteers,"
The future is amazing I hate it.
@peterrenshaw I feel this going in a very, very bad direction.
@bluetea same here.
I was surprised WHERE it was occurring. Brunswick is an old Industrial, now mostly residential area is outside the Medical expertise of the City BioMed precinct [Florey, Melb. Uni, CSIRO, Doherty, Walter Eliza, CSL, Murdoch, Bio21, Baker, McCallum & the numerous Hospitals and Educational institutions]. 1/
The HOW is questionable. Cell quality may have unknown side effects for this type of usage.
