@wilf yeah. There is definitely a socio-cultural aspect to mastodon uptake. I'm a senior developer working on cloud. I suspect that your run of the mill aspirational "influencer" would not appreciate ioc.exchange. Im here at least daily. I don't care that many people I once followed on #birdsite are not here. What I care about is my daily experience. I am happy to pay a little each month for the privilege. A lot of the world still think socials are free. They aren't, it's just a question of who you want to support. I can't see myself ever going back.
