We’re having a #Soliton sale over here! Get yours quick! Seriously, though, this is a quick #animation of the #SolitonInteraction surface – the solution of the #Korteweg-deVries #Eauation showing (x,t,u(x,t)) giving you an all-round view.

I posted on #Soliton interactions in the #Korteweg-deVries #Equation yesterday with an #Animation of how two #SolitaryWaves interact. The #PhaseShift experienced by both can also be seen in a static #3D plot with time, t, plotted on one axis. You should be able to see a “dog-leg” in the trajectory of each wave after it interacts with the other.
Share alike : Le mur invisible de Pablo Albandea et Tristan Duval, un épisode de la série #documentaire Share alike sortie en 2025. Finally, back on the ground, and walking around there were a few quirky monuments around, such as this #MagneticMine, the likes of which were used during #WorldWarII.
From this high up, you can see some transformations for the good that are taking place, like this array of #SolarPanels that has been installed. Such collective action is helping to transform the way electricity is generated in the UK. On a sunny day like this, #SolarEnergy can provide more than a third of the power needs of the country, even outstripping #WindEnergy generation.
The lowest observation level of the #SpinnakerTower features a #GlassFloor for those who dare to stand on it and see how high up they’re standing. I must confess to having fear of heights but I did manage to stand in the middle of the glass deck and look down.
The #NavalBase is still active, and here are two of the #UK's new #AircraftCarriers being fitted out.
The platform affords wonderful views the #land and the #sea almost all the way around. Here, for example, you can see a #PassengerFerry bound for the Isle of Wight, which can be seen across the strait (the #Solent). The town on the over side of the bay is #Gosport.
From this vantage point, the back of the #SpinnakerTower can be seen.
And here are a few more views of it from a a bit closer.
The tower is 170 m tall with three #ObservationDecks, the lowest of which is 100 m hight. I have to say that my wife was a little underwhelmed by the structure until, that is, we got up to the first #ObservationPlatform. A clue is that dark rectangle you can see on the underside.
#Portsmouth is famous for its #naval traditions and has a #RoyalNavy base there, which goes back several centuries. Some old naval #ships have been restored and are open to the public, such as #HMSWarrior here.
