'Flow' is a film that redefines animated cinema. A magical journey that requires no dialogue to convey melancholy, fear, sadness, unity and hope. It speaks of the friendships we find in difficult times that help us carry on.

Today, April 10, 2017, is the birthdate of the replicant known as Leon Kowalski. Bioengineered humans created by Tyrell Corporation for cheap labor have implanted memories and a built-in four year lifespan to prevent them from developing empathetic abilities (Blade Runner, 1982)

Since the early days of film, there've been stunt designers and performers who make leaping through glass windows, flipping cars and escaping from burning buildings look realistic. Now, they have the chance to get an Oscar for it. Thanks to the campaigning of former stunt performer and "The Fall Guy" director David Leitch, the Academy Board of Governors approved a new category for stunt design, which will start in 2027. Here's more from @Variety. Tell us in the comments the most impressive or memorable movie or TV stunt you can think of.

I could listen to Sean Baker talk about films all day. His love for and encyclopedic knowledge of cinema, from "Robocop" and "Miami Connection" (about a Taekwondo rock band and motorcycle-riding ninjas) to John Cassavetes, is infectious. This video is a delight. #Film #Cinema #Movies #Video youtube.com/watch?v=urrIftBhvd

A new documentary, "The Encampments," takes viewers inside the protests across college campuses and public spaces. It features interviews with Mahmoud Khalil, now in a Louisiana detention center after being taken into custody by ICE, award-winning journalist Bisan Owda, and Grant Miner, who was expelled from Columbia University because of his participation in the occupation of a campus building. In its first limited-release weekend, it became the most-seen documentary in theaters. @TeenVogue spoke to co-director Kei Pritsker and student organizer Sueda Polat about why they made the film.

Development on a "Magic: The Gathering" movie is continuing, with Canadian filmmaker Matt Johnson in pole position to direct, according to @Deadline. Johnson has solid indie roots, having co-created the "Nirvana the Band the Show" web series and low-budget films "The Dirties" and "Operation Avalanche" before hitting the relative big time with the well-received "BlackBerry" in 2023. Trading card game Magic: The Gathering is Hasbro's first billion-dollar brand. Here's more.
