When Indian newspapers cite unnamed sources to score points against Bangladesh, rest assured—those sources are often ghosts. In many cases, reporters fabricate quotes themselves and attribute them to vague, multiple sources. Frequently, these quotes are deliberately planted by parties seeking to shape a narrative about Bangladesh. Unfortunately, some Indian journalists treat their Bangladeshi colleagues as if they were clueless—unable to discern between a planted report and an authentic one.
