In today's edition of things that harm sanity, leapp/ELevate doesn't work unless you add an inline # comment after PermitRootLogin yes in the sshd.conf.
I also dread people who ask "why" you want to do something.
Because more often than not, "why" is going to turn into a debate, instead of the person trying to better understand my goal. "Why" is often used as a gateway to tell me you'd do it differently, completely ignoring that I want to do something, this way, without your feedback on the matter.
It would be so different if the person replied with, "well here is how you do it your way, but I would consider doing it this way, and here is why" -- That would be helpful and productive. I would welcome that, very much.
Instead, you get, "Why" followed by, "this is how I do it, and I am going to ignore your method of doing it". And their method likely is incompatible with my other random things I've already have working, and so they likely lead to another thing and another thing and another -- It is my PC, not yours, and I'll use it however I like.

And if there's something I need from say, Fedora, that I can't get in Arch or Debian(or at least not easily- even Debian Stable can be violated to get basically any linux software installed, albeit with great risk and difficulty sometimes)... I can just install a fedora container. Not space efficient, but it's an option. #Linux

i’ve seen some people on here who use postmarketOS as their daily driver now that is has systemd. if that’s you i want to hear about your experience! i’m deeply curious as it seems pmOS has matured a lot now
Just have to remember that if my arch container nukes my home directory, that's my actual home directory and that's going to make a mess of a lot of configurations. That integration is useful but it doesn't protect me the way an Arch virtual machine would. #Linux
It's not the only way to tweak the tradeoffs of old packages vs stability on Debian(this brings in the entire arch userspace save X and a DE), but it definitely is a good option worth considering. #Linux
Heyo @Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux I *just* released #Emulsion, a front-end for games emulators! Please check it out and maybe
feature it? Totally #FLOSS project needs all the help it can get
And none of the complications of a virtual machine.

fastfetch here is both not lying and also running on Debian. #distrobox is neat! All the stability of Debian and all the new stuff of Arch.

Clearly, this is an implementation failure. /s
"It's worth noting that Debian systems aren't susceptible to CVE-2025-4598 by default, since they don't include any core dump handler unless the systemd-coredump package is manually installed."

Support forums in 2025 suck and fuck, I don't care if people judge me, I'm going to rely more on AI, because AI is not going to debate me on why or how I do things.
Yes, sometimes the AI is wrong, but so is the human, but the difference is the human is far more judgmental and adversarial. And when I am pressed for time, I do not want to waste my time debating or arguing, or trying to prove myself to someone, when all I want to helpful results.

Pulled out a server, installed new SSD, Debian & SSH, made sure can connect remotely and log in. All good thought I'd remembered everything. Shove hardware back under workbench & boot up, remote in to start installing packages.
