1970s Custom rotary engine Hercules, I'm so confused but also I want one!
Just completed a 3 day NorCal motorcycle tour.
1st leg Ukiah -> Dunsmuir. Blistering hot high speed ride up I-5 to the base of Mount Shasta.
2nd leg Dunsmuir -> Fort Bragg. Down off the mountain and across the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on State Route 36 with virtually no traffic until an unexpected road outage near the western end forced a detour on rugged back roads through Blocksburg & Alderpoint then up over the hills to Garberville. Down 101 to Leggett then out to the coast on 1 for a final run down along the Pacific Ocean. This was an epic 300 mile ride.
3rd leg Fort Bragg -> Ukiah. Rather businesslike commute home & back to work.
Just under 600 miles & 11 hours of saddle time total. Fun adventure!

We have an extraordinary privilege, as travellers on two wheels, to visit places away from the crowds, where we can see the “real” country, quietly and with intimacy.
Maybe it is only when we accidentally end up in a “destination” tourist hotspot, like I have tonight in Santillana del Mar, we have the horror of the Disneyfication of tourism shown to us. It’s pleasant enough, I guess, but not somewhere I would have knowingly chosen.
