Maggie Maybe<p>This one is REALLY good. (Maybe I say that about all her work, but for real, THIS ONE IS GOOD.):</p><p>“I also don’t want to ignore the fact that he has self-diagnosed ADHD. Self-diagnosis is valid and important for a lot of reasons, but it’s also one of the many ways men weaponize social justice against women. </p><p>It works like this: he knows he can’t just outright refuse to do chores. He also knows that it’s oppressive and abusive to mistreat someone because of their neurodivergence. So he asserts that he has neurodivergence, and that it is abusive for you to do anything other than fully cater to his every whim. He’s neurodivergent, after all. It’s a weird kind of ableism. </p><p>This idea that neurodivergent people should get whatever they want feeds into the widespread notion that real accommodations for real neurodivergence are some sort of unreasonable entitlement. Never mind the fact that neurodivergence in women is always an excuse to accommodate them even less.”</p><p><a href="https://zawn.substack.com/p/my-husband-wants-me-to-make-chores-6ff" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">zawn.substack.com/p/my-husband</span><span class="invisible">-wants-me-to-make-chores-6ff</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://zeroes.ca/tags/feminism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>feminism</span></a> <a href="https://zeroes.ca/tags/ADHD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ADHD</span></a> <a href="https://zeroes.ca/tags/SelfDiagnosis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SelfDiagnosis</span></a> <a href="https://zeroes.ca/tags/FairPlay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FairPlay</span></a> <a href="https://zeroes.ca/tags/zwan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>zwan</span></a></p>
