Here's some photos I took during the #HandsOff protest outside city hall in Palm Springs, CA, yesterday.
By my estimate, there were over two thousand protesters filling the parking lot and lining the sidewalks/intersection. Palm Springs is a town of population 50K, so the turnout was surprising.
USians are showing up and speaking out with some of the most creative signs and outfits I've seen in my many years of protests. Keep it up!

A positive sign, even MAGA Congressman Issa is concerned about Trump’s #tariffs.
While many countries are wrestling with retaliatory tarrifs on US stupidity, China is doing a clever thing.
Sure, they slapped a 39% tariff on US goods, but they've also introduced 'export licensing' for a few critical minerals including dysprosium, terbium, tungsten, indium, and yttrium. They've turned off a tap the US didn't realise it relied on.
This is a good analysis from someone who knows the subject.

In a note titled “There Will Be Blood,” JPMorgan’s head of economic research, Bruce Kasman, raised the probability of a global recession to 60% from 40%.
The bank expects U.S. gross domestic product to contract 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025 from a year earlier; it previously expected 1.3% growth.
Unemployment will reach 5.3% next year, JPMorgan says.

Did some DOGE math - not adding up…
As of 4/6/25 DOGE website says it’s saved $140 billion. I agree sounds like a lot. Then I did some math and logical thinking.- Google tells me that the US budget = $6.8 trillion. - I then asked google what % $140 billion of $6.8 trillion is: 2.06%- DOGE website says this equates to a savings per taxpayer of $869.57. Anyone feel that savings? I know I don’t. Then I thought, at what cost is DOGE eeking out this 2% savings?- 60,000 federal workers have lost their jobs - that will have a cost to their lives and their ability to contribute to the economy - S&P 500 down 10% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 6%. Economic Times says that equates to $8 trillion in losses!- Chaos and division are rampant- Literal lives are being lost to preventable disease because of these funding cuts that are less than a rounding error- And JP Morgan is predicting a recession - that is not good.Seems like DOGE and trump have been successful at ridding our country of safety, security and world prominence all to save 2% of national budget spend with a supposed $869 savings per tax payer that we can’t even feel. Seems like a pretty inefficient endeavor to me especially when a simple and relatively painless tax on the uber wealthy would save more at only a slight cost to a few. Plus the uber wealthy people whose net worth is tanking in the stock market along with the rest of us would be able to maintain their wealth and grow it. A win win the way I see it.Oh and tariffs? I think a thoughtful series of conversations with industry leaders in the US could lead to a global trade policy that makes sense and is nuanced by product/industry and sophisticated rather than the current Bam Bam approach which destroys everything and angers the world at the US’s expense.I’m no economist, just a voter who pays attention and is connecting the dots the way I see it. The #tesla board of investors is thinking of kicking him off, even before the stock hits 140, which would instantly remove him.
He is arguing with the US Trade Advisor #peternavarro and saying his PHD is worthless, and he is dumb, and they're taking public shots at one another.
I'd find it funny if we weren't all being affected.
The Trump admin is dismantling Freedom of Information Act offices. Then the offices send out emails like, “Hello, the FOIA office has been placed on admin leave and is unable to respond to any emails.” The lengths this admin will go to ensure zero transparency with the American people is astounding.
