The aforementioned representation might be what was ‘sold’ to communities back in ancient Greece, and indeed, in some cases it was near enough to the truth to work (with lots of slaves and war booty) but it got corrupted very quickly and left the electorate in the lurch while the elect decide what’s good for them and their own ideas about what society should look like. Some political factions are better than others in devolving away a fraction of their given powers to a selected portion of the communities, but mostly fail to execute for self-interest reasons. And this we call participative <a href="https://aus.social/tags/democracy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#democracy</a>. What a joke.
