tjhowse<p>Last night I used my new toy, a NanoVNA-H4, to make and tune a simple antenna for 920MHz <a href="https://howse.social/tags/meshtastic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>meshtastic</span></a> . It was great fun! I put together an antenna that hits 1.35 SWR in free air at the target frequency in half an hour with some workshop junk.</p><p>I am very far from being a competent radio ham, but my antenna outperformed the one that came with my Heltec V3, so I'm happy. I got a packet out to my local <a href="https://howse.social/tags/brisbane" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>brisbane</span></a> meshtastic network.</p><p><a href="https://howse.social/tags/lora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lora</span></a> <a href="https://howse.social/tags/lorawan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lorawan</span></a> <a href="https://howse.social/tags/nanovna" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nanovna</span></a></p>

Having an expensive gateway is not an entry for LoRa newcomers, while getting a $10 node an immediately becoming part of the mesh is quite easy.</p>

One is Raspberry Pi powered, and connected to the antenna on my roof. The other is a bit more mobile. I'm the only nodes in the area by the looks of things, though 😕.

hack42<p>31 mei: Meshtastic community meetup in Hack42.</p><p>Vanuit het hele land kwamen enthousiastelingen rondom techniek, bushcraft, noodsituaties of gewoon een alternatieve manier van communiceren samen.</p><p>Boven was een intro, beneden werden de hele middag gedemonstreerd, antennes nagemeten, devices geconfigureerd en vooral gedeeld!
