Ancient Junipers (Juniperus communis) on a Cheviot hillside above the headwaters of the Lilburn Burn in Northumberland. At the foot of the hillside there's ancient Alder woodland. I was told its the last remnant of Hill Wood Pasture - Juniper wood high on the hill, then Ash/Birch/Oak and down to Alder in the valley floor. Only 7 Junipers & a fine Alder wood remain, well cared for by the farmer.

A grassy/brackeny hillside with 7 or so darker bushes of juniper.
A very gnarly Juniper tree growing sideways, as they usually do as protection from the wind.
The twisted bare roots of a Juniper growing along teh ground, having grown around a boulder.
