does anybody recognize this style of (presumably) FPGA packaging?
doesn't look like a Zynq despite it seeming very plausible by other factors, not sure what else
the device this ASIC is a part of has two AD9361S RFICs connected to it
actually it looks like there _are_ zynqs sold in this weird blank packaging?? https://www.ebay.com/itm/405451209796
@whitequark How many pins? This looks like a Xilinx package, FFG676 for Kintex-7 isn't too different.
I would expect there to still be laser markings on it though.
@azonenberg check this out https://www.ebay.com/itm/405451209796
@whitequark that looks more like "we ground off the markings to obscure its origin" than "chip was blank from the factory" to me. But I could be wrong.
@azonenberg grinding would be very visible physically in some way. If its not factory blank (not uncommon if you buy in large enough qty) then most likely the heat-spreader got fully replaced by whoever sold it.
@timonsku @azonenberg further context: this is not a civilian device
@whitequark @azonenberg then I would say very likely that it was a custom run without markings to obfuscate what specific part it is. I think you likely have the correct family given how identical that heat-spreader is.
@timonsku @whitequark Yep, that seems very plausible for a gov customer.
@azonenberg @timonsku oh, no, this would have been done 'unofficially'
@whitequark @azonenberg @timonsku gov customer which sources exclusively through AliExpress
