The 17y/o asked me the big question today, the one every dad waits for. “Dad,” he said, “is it wrong to include a .cpp file from a .h file?”
My son had his first linker error. 
Anyway on a serious note, I got to explain the origin story of the C precompiler and how the linker works. And honestly as I was saying it, the whole thing sounded ridiculous. We should stop using ancient 1970s programming languages.
After many hours debugging serial interfaces and unique_ptr weirdness, this is the amazing result.
