@vampiress Oops #Clipper arrival is April 2030 <https://science.nasa.gov/jupiter/jupiter-moons/europa/>
@peterrenshaw @vampiress I might be mistaken, but NASA actually got Clarke's blessing previous to some other mission.
BTW, I also prefer 2010.
In all fairness, 2001 the book is much better than the movie. Kubrick had the tendency of butchering books when adapting. Still mourning what he did to my poor boy Clockwork Orange.
Edit: Kubrick is dead for quite some time now. Changed the verbal time to reflect that.
@vampiress @montyontherun That I did not know.
Fun fact, 2001 (I read the book in the 70s) was developed in conjunction with the film and released post film. Clarke and Kubrick both collaborated on the screenplay.

The film is fantastic. I saw it in the late 70s in 70mm. Lots of questions after it. Even now I’ve stumbled on new interpretations of the ending where Bowman is captured near the film ending in an Alien cultural interpretation of how humans live where there is no concept of linear time.
