Not true!

The journalist claimed that the US didn't get #BritPop because it was quirky and kitchen sink.

I think the US just had better bands. The US had #SlackerRock, pioneered by bands like #Pavement which is not too dissimilar to Brit Pop, just generally better. The difference is Pavement were good and experimental.

Brit Pop was primarily pop and dull, while bands like Pavement mostly shunned the more radio friendly sound - at least initially.

Some people were Blur fans, and some were Oasis fans, but the real geniuses of the Brit-pop scene were Pulp. They reunited and toured in 2011 and 2022. Next up: A new album, "More," which comes out in June. @RollingStone's Rob Sheffield spoke to frontman Jarvis Cocker about the new record, losing beloved bandmate Steve Mackey, and what makes the Pulp sound unique. “When we started off, that was the only way we knew how to do it anyhow,” Cocker says. “And there was no such thing as Pro Tools or anything, so you couldn’t massage things and make them perfectly in time. But what’s the point of human music-making if it hasn’t got some of that personality?”
