I'm kind of amazed how much time the crows are immediately spending at the bath, drinking water.

Makes me wonder if there aren't good sources nearby? (I do live in the suburbs, lots of trees but not much wild nature areas) Or the nature gods of the area have just blessed me with crow friends.

Crow friend is back. I think this one has a small leucistic strip of white on its wings.

This crow has been a pretty regular visitor already, although they weren't out this morning, they showed up immediately after I refreshed the water.

Debating a name for them.

My son and partner are taking bets on how long til the crows start bringing gifts. I would fully ugly cry if that ever happened.

An early walk this morning showed me a doe who was not worried about me at all (poor photo) and 2 bunnies at various points on my trek.

Also, I think the crows were keeping an eye on me. I heard 2 at the top of our hill, then heard 2 more in 4 different places during the 45 minute loop.

Once I got home, I went in to get coffee and peanuts, and by then one of my usual pair was already waiting in the court. I wonder if they followed me?

Hive mind,

How do I feed the #crows but not the #jays or #squirrels.

My best idea is a weigh sensitive system assuming a #jay weighs less than a #crow and a #squirrel weighs more than a crow

I'm not into electronic solutions, something spring loaded or cournter weighted would be ideal. I'm not sure my crows are tame enough or patient enough to work on puzzles too hard for squirrels to figure out

This morning was the first #crow interaction where one of them came down to the small pile of peanuts, took a couple a foot away and actually cracked them open without flying across the street. The other crow still swoops in, grabs a few and leaves.

This feels like progress.

Also the young deer couple showed back up in the neighbor's yard, but didn't interfere.

I'm not sure what else to expect, but this was nice. They're still about 40 feet away, so I'm definitely not crowding them. Or CROWding them.

#corvids not #cervids
