OP: Hello everyone, I already read the Wiki, but I could not find anything that could help me with "random". Can anyone point me in the right direction or tell me how you achieve, random?

Linux Support Forum (LSF): Read the Wiki !!!!

OP: I am sorry, I think you may have skimmed my post. As I said, I already read the Wiki, and could not find anything.

LSF: You obviously did not read the Wiki. Here is the URL.

OP: But that is 404 page.

LSF: Shhh. The Wiki has spoken!

OP: Hi everyone, how do you "random?" I tried doing it "this way" and "that way" and here are my logs. I seem to be stuck.

Linux Support Forum (LSF): No, not like that.

OP: But I really want to do random. Can it not be done?

LSF: Oh, it can be done, but no one here will help you do it.

OP: Why?

LSF: Because we do not approve.

OP: Why?

LSF: It is not the Linux way!

I have been playing with or outright using Linux since the early days - Before Linux ever had an installer, and you needed to compile everything yourself.

Linux has come a long way, but the communities behind Linux mostly have not.

Sure, you have the occasional exception today, with a few good helpful groups, but those are the minority. But the fact that they even exist, is an improvement. The problem is the vast majority has not changed in all these years.

AI is going to replace Support Forums, because Support Forums, want to die. They prove that fact with every gate keeping post, with every debate or argument they start as opposed to answering people with what they are looking for, and with every shunning action they take when someone does try to offer real help.

You said it yourself, that post was very much edited.

The big thing I dislike about Linux Support Forums is how they tend to gate keep and even shame people. Then when someone finally has had enough, and they call people out, those same people will go back, edit their post, and make it seem like you're the bad guy with their now, newly sensible and newly reasonable comments.

You'll notice (in my post history), I'm still having a few minor issues, but am I being helped? No. Anyone, right now, could shut me up, and shut me down, but folks rather go on with the nonsense, which only further validates my claim that AI can be more helpful.

And as you said, even after they edited their post, they still could not help themselves.

In fact, the NixOS Community, continues to prove exactly why AI will replace Support Forums.

An AI is not going to troll you, or judge you, or criticize you. An AI will answer your questions, and not gate keep you.

Yes, sometimes that AI is not always correct, but neither are people. At least the AI will point you in the right direction.

Des sites imposants dont l'accès est tout de même ralentit par un pont-levis, les challenges #Anubis, #cloudfare ou autre...

Des résultats de recherche qui remontent de + en + de la bouillie sans queue ni tête générée par #LLMs

You can edit your post too on social media, but usually folks don't get away with that kind of thing. Because on here, for example, many others see things for what they are, and call people out.

On support forum communities, they are often little groups, and when someone edits their post to give the wrong impression that they played nice, it is usually in that eco chamber where they have each other's back. The whole, shhh.... You saw nothing, mindset, and the truth dies with it.

#SupportFroums #Forums #Linux

That is another thing I dislike about Support Forums.

When you finally lose your cool, and say, "fuck this shit" -- People go back and edit their post (rewriting history) and make it seem like you're just crazy, and there was no reason for all that.

ぷにすきーLinux Is Best (@Linux)@justinas@social.treehouse.systems People edited their post -- A lot. If you visit that thread, it is not in the original context it was before. The only original line that is of interest (before someone edits it again) is: > " I can’t say for sure why it seemed to work previously, because I can’t see any evidence that it would have. " Which, by the way, is pretty much saying your code is shit, this never worked. -- It did work, and I used it for over a week. This was my 3rd attempt now to resolve this issue. My 1st attempt work too, until it didn't. As did my 2nd attempt. Yes, I do find it ironic that ChatGPT gave me something, people were either unwilling or unable to provide - A working solution, or in other instance, a useful tip that could be used. RE: @Linux@mk.absturztau.be https://discourse.nixos.org/t/automatic-upgrade-at-specify-time-with-independent-daily-log-and-specified-clean-up/65130/4 this is absolutely a "working tip", and ChatGPT generated you a similar solution in a longer, more roundabout way with an additional service. Which somehow "proves people wrong", I'm not sure in what way? As people have noted, no one accused you of lying, you might have been mistaken. I know the solution suggested works, because I'm using that approach myself (as do most people who desire GC, I imagine). RE: ...

That is one of the cool things about NixOS, is you can do things differently. True, the documentation is poorly written and seldom kept up to date. But the underline ability to make it your own is there.

The problem is their support community suffers, a common problem many Linux Support Communities suffer from. Far too many jerks who are unhelpful and gate keep. You spend a good amount of your time trying to figure something out, going to the forums as a last resort, and you damn regret doing so shortly after submitting your post.

I am likely going to be banned from the NixOs Community Forum, as I posted this as my reply to someone. - I do not even care.

Why?

If you look at my post history, I solved my own problems. All I ever got was people criticizing and never actually providing solutions. Which is what most people looking of help want - A solution (or at best a working tip, beyond a vague cryptic statement).
