taskfinder version 2.7.0 released! This one comes with the ability to filter by tag in Tasks mode as well as a slew of little improvements related to dates. If you use it, let me know what you think!

I casually mentioned to the electrician doing the circuit breaker box move in my home that the California code requiring smoke detectors in each bedroom in my small house seemed like overkill, and he launched into an impassioned speech as to why they’re so important and how they save lives.
So go make sure you have your smoke alarms!

I'm now running a free instance of my simple TODO list application called Muda at:
It's a web app written completely in C++. If you want to run your own instance, you can get it from github here:
https://github.com/mempko/muda
My free instance is run AS-IS. Don't rely on it for anything mission critical.
I wonder if there is some sort of local web server that could render my personal local Obsidian notes in my web browser (local or remote if I expose to only my local network).
I guess this would allow for some interesting integration of linking to notes from some tasks app like Planka, if I wish to keep notes and tasks in separate apps but would like to link information from one to another for easy access.
Many times, a good first programming project for a beginner to really get their hands dirty is a basic Todo list. I have made quite a few of these in various programming languages at this point, but the first one I made was a simple NodeJS CLI todo app. Crude and practically indecipherable to me now, this first attempt at making such a basic application got me to understand the basics of CRUD, and it wasn't long before I began to see these basic data operations everywhere.
2DO (https://www.2doapp.com/) looks like a good choice for CalDAV on iOS and Mac, but CalDAV's got a long list of caveats: https://www.2doapp.com/kb/article/which-sync-method-should-i-use.html
Yesterday I mentioned wanting Todoist's apps, but with self-hosted (or Canadian-hosted) storage.
Seriously. Todoist's app is great, but I can't find anything similar that lets you store your data outside the US. TaskPal is close; their data is stored in the EU except for file attachments (US now, EU soon).
I've got S3-compatible storage, MySQL, Postgres, and CalDAV handy, but nothing good to use with them. I need iOS, Mac, and Linux apps.
I want Todoist's client apps, but with data hosted in Canada (or my own S3 compatible bucket, or my own back-end server).
I've released a new version of taskfinder (2.6.0), a TUI to aid in task management.
This one brings two new features:
- "Tasks" mode, where you can view all incomplete tasks (by due date/priority) or all completed tasks (by completed date/priority).
- The ability to ignore specified directories.
It's also now available as a flake thanks to a community contribution.

I've definitely got a few things I'd like to say when I log in after work.

The Cognitive Load of It All, or the Response Matrix [US/pols, prepping, Ω] by @siderea
"As our country slides into catastrophe, part of what a lot of people are struggling with is the sheer overwhelm of all there is to deal with cognitively, so it might be helpful to have a high-level overview, on a meta-level, of what all there is, just to help grapple with it all. This is not a map, this is like the coordinate system that gets overlaid on an old-school paper map"
